Poll Maker
Write a question, add your options, and get a link to share. Voters answer in seconds, with no account, and you both watch the results update.
Overview
A poll is the fastest way to settle a group decision or gauge opinion, but most poll tools ask you and your voters to sign up first. This one doesn't: create a poll, share the link, and anyone who opens it can vote right away. Results appear clearly and refresh on their own while the poll is open.
Choose single choice when there is one answer per voter. Choose multiple choice when people should be able to pick and rank several: you set the maximum number of picks, and each voter orders their choices. Points are awarded in reverse order behind the scenes so preferred options bubble to the top, and results show the percentage share for each option.
You can make a poll anonymous, so only totals are ever shown, or open, so each voter gives a name and the poll page lists who picked what. You also decide who sees the results: everyone straight away, voters only once they have voted (so early results don't sway later votes), or only you. A poll can close automatically at a time you choose, or stay open until you close it.
Examples & Sample Data
A quick team decision
Question: Where should we hold the offsite? Options: Goa, Manali, Rishikesh. Single choice, closes in 1 day.
A link to share with the team. Each person votes once, and results show something like: Goa 50% (4 votes), Manali 25% (2 votes), Rishikesh 25% (2 votes).
Ranked preferences
Question: Which features should we build next? Five options, multiple choice, up to 3 picks each.
Each voter ranks up to three features in preference order. Results show each feature's percentage share of ranking points, how many voters picked it, and how many put it first.
How It Works
- Type your question and add between 2 and 10 options.
- Pick single choice, or multiple choice and the maximum number of picks each voter may make.
- Optionally set a closing time, choose whether voting is anonymous or shows each voter's name, and choose who can see the results.
- Create the poll, then copy the share link and send it to your voters. Keep the private manage link if you want to close or delete the poll later.
- Voters open the link, choose their answer (ranking their picks on a multiple-choice poll) and submit. Results update live for everyone.
Common Use Cases
Group decisions
Settle where to eat, when to meet, or which name to pick without a long chat thread.
Audience and community feedback
Ask followers, students or customers which topic to cover next and share the results.
Prioritising work
Let a team rank the features or fixes they care about, and see the combined percentage results and ranking.
Tips & Best Practices
- Keep option text short and mutually exclusive so the results are easy to read.
- On a multiple-choice poll, voters rank their choices in preference order. The result percentage reflects each option's share of ranking points.
- Save the private manage link when it appears: it is the only way to close or delete the poll if you were not signed in, and it cannot be recovered.
- Turn anonymous voting off only when you need to know who voted: the names are shown publicly on the poll page.
- Choose "Voters only" when you want honest, independent answers: people see the results only after they have voted, so a visible lead can't sway them. Choose "Only me" to collect answers privately.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. Anyone with the link can vote. You don't need an account to create a poll either, though signing in lets you manage your poll from any device without the private link.
When someone votes, their browser keeps a small random token in a cookie, and the poll records a one-way hash of it. Voting again from the same browser is refused. Because it is per browser, clearing cookies or using another browser or device lets a person vote again, so treat results as a quick read, not a secure ballot.
Each voter picks up to the maximum choices allowed and orders their picks in preference order. Choices receive points in reverse order of rank (e.g. 3 points for 1st choice, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd). Results display each option's percentage share of the total ranking points, along with how many voters picked it and first-choice counts.
On an anonymous poll, only the choices and a one-way hash of a random browser token, never your IP address or any name. On a poll with anonymous voting turned off, the name a voter types is stored and shown publicly on that poll.
Yes. When you create a poll you choose who can see the results: everyone (before and after voting), voters only (they see the results once they have voted), or only you. On the last two the results are not sent to visitors who aren't allowed to see them, and on a poll with named voters the voter list is hidden along with them. You can always see the results yourself using your manage link or by signing in with the account you created the poll with. On "voters only", people who never vote never see the results, even after the poll closes.
Yes. Use the private manage link shown when you create the poll, or sign in with the same account you created it with. You can close it early, which keeps the results, or delete it, which removes the poll and all its votes.
No. A poll is only reachable by its link and is hidden from search engines, so only people you share the link with are likely to find it.
