Registrar Lookup

Works fully offline

Enter a domain to see the registrar it's registered through and its current registration status.

Overview

Every registered domain is managed through a registrar — the company a domain owner pays to hold the registration with the registry (e.g. Verisign for .com). Knowing a domain's registrar matters before a transfer, when investigating a domain, or when trying to figure out where to renew or manage it.

This tool reuses the same RDAP registration data as the WHOIS Lookup tool, surfacing just the registrar and status fields.

Examples

Looking up a domain's registrar

example.com
Registrar: RESERVED-Internet Assigned Numbers Authority

How It Works

  1. Enter a domain name, e.g. example.com.
  2. Complete the verification check if shown.
  3. Click Look Up to query the domain's registry via RDAP.
  4. Review the registrar and status returned.

Use Cases

Preparing a domain transfer

Confirm which registrar currently holds a domain before initiating a transfer away from it.

Investigating a domain

Identify a domain's registrar as a starting point for further research.

Tips

  • A domain's registrar can change over time (transfers), so this always reflects the current registration, not history.

FAQ

The domain you enter is sent to our server, which queries the domain's registry via RDAP on your behalf — nothing else about you is sent or stored.

This lookup queries external registry infrastructure on your behalf, so a quick bot check helps keep the tool available and responsive for everyone.

A small number of registries don't expose a machine-readable registrar name in RDAP — this tool shows whatever the registry itself makes public.
