BIMI Checker

Requires server processing Email

Enter your email domain to check whether inboxes can show your brand logo: the BIMI record, the logo’s SVG format, the mark certificate, and the DMARC policy BIMI depends on.

The domain after the @ in the From address of your email.

Overview

Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) lets mailbox providers such as Gmail, Apple Mail, and Yahoo show your logo next to authenticated email. It’s set up with a TXT record at default._bimi.yourdomain that points to your logo and, for most providers, to a mark certificate that proves you own the trademark.

Providers are strict about the details. The logo must be an SVG in the Tiny Portable/Secure profile, with a title and no scripts or external references, and ideally square and under 32 KB. Gmail and Apple Mail also require a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) or Common Mark Certificate (CMC). This checker downloads both and reports exactly what fails.

BIMI only works on top of DMARC enforcement, so the checker also reads your DMARC record and confirms it uses p=quarantine or p=reject at 100%. The logo is previewed so you can see what will appear in inboxes.

Examples & Sample Data

Complete setup

Input
cnn.com
Output
Pass: Tiny PS logo with title, mark certificate issued by DigiCert valid until 2027, DMARC policy reject

Missing enforcement

Input
A domain with p=none
Output
Problem: DMARC policy is none. Mailbox providers only show BIMI logos with quarantine or reject.

How It Works

  1. Enter the domain in your email’s From address.
  2. The checker reads the BIMI record, falling back from a subdomain to its parent domain, and the DMARC record.
  3. It downloads the logo and checks the SVG profile, title, forbidden elements, shape, and size.
  4. If an a= tag is present, it downloads the mark certificate and checks its expiry and the domains it names.

Common Use Cases

Launching BIMI

Check the record, logo, and certificate before waiting for mailbox providers to pick them up.

Fixing a logo that doesn’t appear

Find the reason, such as a non-Tiny PS SVG, an expired certificate, or DMARC not enforcing.

Brand protection reviews

Confirm your logo and certificate are still valid across the domains you send from.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Export logos as SVG Tiny PS with a tool that supports the profile. Regular SVG exports from design tools are rejected.
  • Use a square logo with a solid background, since inboxes crop it to a circle or rounded square.
  • Get DMARC to p=quarantine or p=reject before buying a mark certificate. Without enforcement, the logo won’t be shown.

Frequently Asked Questions

Gmail and Apple Mail only show logos backed by a VMC, or a CMC for logos without a registered trademark. Some other providers show BIMI logos without one.

Mailbox providers also look at sending reputation and volume, and cache BIMI data, so it can take days to appear. Each provider decides whether to display logos.

A restricted SVG profile for BIMI logos. It requires baseProfile="tiny-ps" and a title, and forbids scripts, embedded images, external links, and some attributes, so logos are safe and render consistently.

No. The checker downloads the logo from the URL in your public BIMI record to check it, and shows a preview only on your screen.
