The story of the Tecumsehs Barra Engine is a story of a man’s quest for power, innovation, and a great idea.

It is also a story about a great engineering company that has a great story to tell.

In his autobiography, Robert Cockerill tells the story of how he and his wife started their own company in 1969, a company that would later become a company of more than 250 engineers.

In 1974, the company received a $5 million grant from the US Department of Energy to develop a gas turbine engine.

Cockeril says the grant was “the largest ever” to a single engineering company and it was the beginning of a chain of grants from the department to the companies that would shape his career.

In the 1980s, he went on to partner with the company to develop and build a turbine engine for the Royal Canadian Navy.

And then, in 2001, Cockeri came to realise that there was a huge gap in the market.

“I went into this venture as an engineer and not a businessman.

But I thought it was a great opportunity to make something that was going to have the impact on our industry,” he told ABC Radio’s Lateline.

“We had an opportunity to build a real, large turbine engine.”

It was a good opportunity.

The company had been working on a turbine design called the Barra engine, and Cockerili was able to convince his boss at the company, Steve Langer, to put him in charge of designing the engine.

“This engine was going be a very, very large turbine that could be used to power aircraft, nuclear submarines, and other power plants,” Langer told Lateline in a 2014 interview.

Cockers engine took five years to make, and in that time, the team built three prototypes, each capable of producing 5MW of power.

The Barra project would go on to be a major success, and, by the time the Barras first turbine engine was delivered to the Royal Navy, the United States was producing an estimated 2,000 to 3,000 megawatts of power from the technology.

And it was all the work of Cockerills engineering team.

“Every single engineer in the company was working on the Barrage engine, not just Steve,” Cockerillo told Latelines interviewer, Tom Laughlin.

“Steve’s only job was to work on the engine.”

When the first Barra engines arrived in the US Navy, Laughlin recalls, “it was the biggest surprise to us all because the Navy had only ever been looking at a single turbine engine, so this was a massive leap forward for the technology.”

The Barrage turbine engine is now used in a range of aircraft, from nuclear submarines to nuclear missiles, and can generate up to 20MW of output.

Cockell says that it was Cockerils engineering team who first came up with the idea to design a turbine that was able a significant amount of power in the same amount of time as a conventional engine.
